Jazztel outlines operational and financial expectations for 2013-2017

jazztel-ft1Source Telegeography

Alternative Spanish broadband operator Jazztel has published its business plan for the period 2013 to 2017 in which it has set out a number of targets, both operational and financial.

Firstly, the operator has set out its stall to increase its number of broadband subscribers from the 1.318 million it had at end-2012 to between 1.950 million and 2.000 million by the end of 2017. More notable perhaps though is Jazztel’s forecast for the uptake of its mobile voice services.

Jazztel initially launched as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in June 2008, piggybacking on Orange Espana’s network. Having seen a relatively slow start, its virtual operator operations appear to be gaining traction, in part as such products are offered as part of bundled services strategy, and by end-2012 it had 342,240 mobile subscribers, up from 142,162 a year earlier. Jazztel is, however, forecasting significant growth, and has said it expects mobile voice accesses to rise to between 2.3 million and 2.5 million by the end of 2017, representing a compound annual growth rate of 48%.

Financially, Jazztel expects to generate turnover of between EUR1.5 billion and EUR1.6 billion (USD1.98 billion-USD2.11 billion), compared with the EUR909 million it recorded in its 2012 fiscal year. EBITDA is forecast at between EUR380 million and EUR420 million by 2017, with guidance for net profit set at EUR180 million-EUR220 million. Capital expenditures meanwhile will rise to between EUR125 million and EUR150 million by 2017, up from EUR109 million in FY12.
