About ASDA Mobile
Asda Mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in the UK, operated by Asda, using the Vodafone UK network. Asda phones may be locked to a sub-set of the vodafone network (i.e. they may not work with a vodafone sim card). Asda Mobile was launched in April 2007. As of 21 August 2007, Asda mobile was available in 237 stores across the UK.
Asda Mobile has won awards for customer service, and for being the cheapest national mobile network. As of 28 February 2011 rival Tesco’s Pay As You Go Lite tariff slightly undercuts Asda’s standard charges by 2p/min and 2p/text, however is 60p/MB more expensive for Internet use.
Asda Mobile have increased their tariff (31 May 2011) from 8p per minute and 4p per text to 10p and 6p respectively.
There are many phones available on Asda Direct, with all Asda mobile handsets unlocked, one of the reasons handsets are more expensive than with competitors. Asda do not sell all of them on the Asda Mobile network, making some handsets network locked.

ASDA Group Limited Company Profile
ASDA offers its customers low-price, American-style shopping with an English accent. Owned by US-retail-giant Wal-Mart Stores, ASDA is the UK‘s #2 food seller (behind Tesco). It operates more than 540 food and general merchandise stores, including supermarkets, superstores, and ASDA Supercenters, as well as ASDA Living stores. Its ecommerce arm, ASDA Direct, sells goods online. ASDA’s vast nonfood offering includes apparel, CDs, books, videos, housewares, and more. Since ASDA was acquired by Wal-Mart more than a decade ago, the chain has ignited a price war in the UK by introducing Wal-Mart’s aggressive “price-rollback” program and converting stores to the supercenter format.
