OKLAHOMA CITY, — Elephant Talk Communications Corp. (NYSE MKT: ETAK), a leading international provider of proprietary mobile Software Defined Network Architecture (Software DNATM) platforms for the telecommunications industry and a market leader in providing solutions to counter electronic fraud in the cloud, today announced that it has successfully placed its first call on its Latin American mobile Software DNA™ platform with Iusacell, an innovative Mobile Network Operator (MNO) in Mexico. This first call was made this morning between the CEO’s of Iusacell and Elephant Talk.

Over the last couple of months, Elephant Talk ensured a timely and effective rollout of its Software DNA™ platform with Iusacell. The platform will initially host a mix of existing and new Iusacell mobile subscribers of an MVNO of a major retail chain.

“Since we announced the partnership with an MNO in Latin America, we have been working diligently to deploy the Software DNA™ platform. The initial call is an important milestone and key step for the system to go live.  By allowing the migration of existing mobile subscribers of an MVNO of a major retail chain and making our platform available for several new MVNO’s, Iusacell is providing a clear validation of Elephant Talk’s mobile platform that is utilized now in Mexico and other countries around the world,” stated Steven van der VeldenCEO of Elephant Talk. “The coming months will be used to finish the deployment to enable the migration of their customers to our platform. With an initial capacity of 10 million mobile subscribers, the Mexican platform will ultimately have the capability to scale to over 20 million subscribers in the upcoming years.”

“We are very pleased to be installing Elephant Talk’s mobile platform to manage the back office operations for many of Iusacell’s mobile subscribers,” stated Adrian Steckel, CEO of Iusacell. “We expect to have a minimum 1.5 million mobile subscribers in Mexico migrated to Elephant Talk’s proprietary platform by the end of 2013. In looking at potential partners, we found the Elephant Talk mobile telecommunications platform to be the best solution for our organization and we look forward to a long and mutually profitable relationship.”

“This first successful call, indicates that the initial phase of getting the platform commercially operational is completed now. That is a crucial step towards the first wave of mobile subscribers migrating to Elephant Talk’s mobile platform, stated Martin Zuurbier, CTO of Elephant Talk. The following six to eight weeks will focus on live deployment testing, with the plan to go live in the 3rd quarter. The initial deployment will support GSM, with CDMA and LTE (4G) to follow later.”
