SKOPJE (Macedonia),– Macedonia-based Albaphone will start operating as a virtual mobile operator in August, local media said.
The company will be the fourth mobile operator in Macedonia. Ethnic Albanians will be Albaphone’s target group of clients, the news agency said, quoting the company’s CEO Adrian Hohxa.
Ethnic Albanians make up a quarter of Macedonia’s population of two million.
Albaphone obtained 1.0 million phone numbers to offer to its clients from Macedonia’s Agency for Electronic Communications (AEC).
Macedonia’s biggest mobile operator is T-Mobile Makedonija, a unit of Magyar Telekom, with a market share of 49% in terms of subscribers, followed by Telekom Austria’s Vip Operator with a market share of 28%. The third operator, ONE, has a market share of 23%.
