Buzz Me … Catalyst for Malaysian Retail Brand MVNO Development

With Sisteer as technology partner for mobile virtual network aggregator Enabling Asia, the launch of Malaysia’s MVNO Buzz Me on the U Mobile network marks the first step in the development of retail brand MVNOs in the region

Tier one Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) Sisteer (www.sisteer.com) today announces that its vision to help develop an Asian regional MVNE platform and service takes shape and starts its journey in Malaysia. Together with its Asian mobile virtual network aggregator partner Enabling Asia (www.enablingasia.com), the retail brand differentiator has begun to breathe and evolve following last month’s launch of MVNO Buzz Me on Malaysia’s U Mobile network.

The core of Buzz Me’s operations is Sisteer’s light technology platform which integrates a business support system (BSS) with U Mobile’s host BSS proxy. Prepaid plans are hosted by the network operator.

Since the successful launch of Buzz Me, the public reaction to the new service leads the MVNO to confidently expect that its highly-competitive pre-paid plans will continue to appeal to multiple segments of Malaysia’s 42 million mobile subscribers.
Building upon this initial success, Sisteer and Enabling Asia firmly expect a further three MVNOs to be fully operational in Malaysia by year end.

Regionally, Sisteer is in advanced discussions with the mobile value chain from MNO through to distribution, retail brands and merchants for targeted launches in China and Myanmar.

Enabling Asia chose Sisteer as its technical partner because of the firm’s unparalleled expertise in launching MVNOs around the world over the past decade. Over 30 MVNOs now use Sisteer’s robust customer-critical products and services encompassing billing and support on a daily basis, all of which generate healthy ARPU and keep tight control of operational costs.

“Clearly, as the technology partner of Enabling Asia, Sisteer is delighted with the success of the Buzz Me launch which signals the start of a region-wide movement of potential MVNOs launching highly-competitive mobile offerings,” says Alain Bureau, Sisteer’s Group CEO.
“Like other regions, the MVNO business model is perfect for the fast-growing ASEAN market and is the fast track for brands, supermarkets, insurance companies and many other businesses to develop new revenue streams from their customers and add value to their brand.”
