Earlier on this month UK MVNO giffgaff reduced the prices for calls from the UK to over 220 international destinations and some prices dropped as much as 98%. Since then, there has been an increase both in the number of members who are making international calls and also the volume of calls that those members are making, so it’s great that many of you are now getting more from your phones on giffgaff.
When giffgaff first announced the changes, giffgaff also mentioned that they would need to make price changes every so often in response to changes in the market and termination rates for international calls (i.e. the cost to giffgaff of completing an international call). giffgaff want to provide consistent pricing and therefore they will try to keep changes as irregular as possible, but where they are needed, giffgaff will make sure that everyone is kept informed of any changes and that’s what giffgaff is doing.
On 1st August, there will be some price changes to some International destinations (i.e. calls from the UK to abroad) and also our Roaming prices for some destinations (i.e. calls from abroad back to the UK) for some countries.
All of the changes have been outlined below and to ensure that all members are informed, and giffgaff will be sending a text to anyone who has made an affected international call or text in the last month which will include a link to this blog post.

Also, since it’s Summer (and many of you will probably be off on holiday over the next few weeks), giffgaff wanted to give a reminder that it’s worth checking the pricing pages for the latest information before you leave. To give some notice on the next planned changes, Montenegro and Serbia will all be moved to the ‘Rest of World’ Roaming price band on 1st August.
As already stated, it’s giffgaff’s aim to maintain stable pricing wherever possible, but on occasions where we need to respond to market or termination charge changes, giffgaff will ensure that members are kept fully informed of these changes.
