Beginning today, Ultra Mobile is giving every customer 1,000 minutes a month of free international calls to more than 70 countries and unlimited SMS texts to more than 190 countries. Every Ultra Mobile plan, which start at $19 a month, will now include this feature, called Ultra Zero, which is disrupting the mobile carrier world and elating customers nationwide.

Ultra Mobile began creating a stir with Ultra Zero in August 2013 by enabling its customers wanting to keep in touch with family and friends abroad to make free calls to Canada, China, Mexico, Singapore, and the United Kingdom for the first 1,000 minutes. The company has now extended Ultra Zero to more than 70 additional countries to include the most popular calling destinations such as India, Bangladesh, Dominican Republic, Nigeria and Vietnam. This means Ultra Mobile customers may now enjoy standard calling to 70% of the world’s population, or 3.3 billion mobile subscribers. Other carriers’ standard calls reach just 300 million US mobile users.

The many other markets that we want to include in Ultra Zero are kept high because national governments use incoming international call tariffs as a source of foreign currency. Nevertheless, we will continue to advocate for fair pricing on behalf of our customers and offer free international texting as an alternative,” said Furlong.
